Street artist, turned designer, KAWS teamed up with Diane Brown’s RxArt at the Keihls 3rd Avenue location on Thursday night for a holiday party to showcase the collaboration. My good homey Zach is a dutiful Kiehls employee, invited me to come out and shoot it for SoJones. Thanks again, Z.
I had a chance to hang out with the fine folks from Flud Watches yesterday, at one of their winter launch parties. They actually had 3 of them at three different locations last night. These guys know how to celebrate. Hahaha. They have some really cool designs, including my favorite, the turntable watch.
The first party (the one the I attended) was at a new club on Reade Street called Mocca Lounge. The place was hot. I loved these ball chain curtains that they had.
Saturday afternoon, I spent in Brooklyn getting to know a band called Game Rebellion. We shot at local clothing co./shop in Williamsburg called Freshthetic. It was a lot of fun. They had some of their jams pumping through the sound system while we were shooting. It was pretty cool stuff. They have an EP coming out soon, with a listening party coming up on the 16th. Look for my introductory piece featuring Game Rebellion, in SoJones.
Monday night was the “Hip Hop Unity Fest” at the Imperial NYC in honor of Mike Beck. Mike Beck was a producer who was killed as an innocent bystander to urban violence. The party was DJed by Kayslay. 50 was also playing that night, to celebrate the release of his new album. I was kind of hoping that he would show up to the party. He never did, while I was there.
