Last Friday was Go Skateboarding Day. Nike celebrated in grand fashion buy constructing a barge and parking it in the Hudson River on the south end of the cruise ship terminal. The Nike SB skate team conducted a demo all evening. Here are a couple of snaps from the event.
I wandered outside on the Monday before Hurricane Sandy smacked New York City. I didn’t dare to go too far from my house, so I just walked over to the esplanade in the 30’s. The Hudson was starting to overflow its banks, and it was raining like crazy… sideways. I thought that it was appropriate to process them all in high contrast monochrome.
The famous Bowery mural space was ritualistically whitewashed over the weekend, in preparation for the latest installment in a long series of famed street artists. The past few days, Retna has been affixing his signature brand of scrit. This is how it looked on Tueday night, March 6th.
Not my typical gig, at all. But, I had an absolute blast at this event. The venue was great, and the peeps from Lucky Mag were awesome. Lucky setup a Flickr set for the event over here.
TED award winner, JR put up a new mural today on Houston Street, in NYC. The piece graces the same wall that has featured works by Keith Haring, Os Gemeos, Shepard Fairey, and most recently, Kenny Scharf. Read the coverage on Curated.
